Beyond the Headlines: Rev. Dr. Major J. Jones and the Work of the Civil Rights Movement
Exploring Leadership, Conscience, and Moral Architecture — An Evening with the Jones Family

Join the Shelton Heritage Society for a special Black History Month program exploring the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Major J. Jones—pastor, educator, civil rights leader, and our cousin through the Cathey-Freeman family line. A trusted confidante of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and National Treasurer of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Rev. Dr. Jones played an important role in sustaining the moral and organizational foundations of the Civil Rights Movement. This evening will feature a historical presentation followed by reflections and conversation with members of the Jones family.
