As a descendant of Peter and Mary Shelton Powell, Monica is deeply committed to preserving family legacy, strengthening community connections, and supporting efforts that honor the history and resilience of the Shelton family. As a newly connected member of the family, she has expressed both gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to deepen relationships with relatives while contributing her professional expertise and leadership experience to the Shelton Heritage Society of Georgia & Historic Possum Trot, Inc.

Professionally, Monica serves as a United Auto Workers (UAW) Assistant Director of Benefits, where she manages and negotiates hourly employee benefits for Ford Motor Company employees. Her work requires strong leadership, strategic planning, negotiation, and advocacy skills, all of which she brings to her service within the Society.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, she has experience serving on various boards, including administering a retirement board for Ford retirees. Her background in benefits administration and organizational leadership reflects her commitment to supporting individuals, advocating for communities, and helping organizations operate effectively and responsibly.

Passionate about service and community engagement, Monica is honored to contribute to efforts that preserve the history, heritage, and intergenerational connections of the Shelton family while helping strengthen the Society’s mission for future generations.
